Choosing the right RJ45 pliers
We are happy to help you choose the right network pliers. Our main advice: choose a solid variant made of metal.
Metal or plastic?
If you want to use the UTP pliers more often, you would therefore be wise to go for a metal RJ45 crimping pliers, these have a longer lifespan than the plastic variant. If you also want to crimp variants other than RJ45 connectors, you can opt for special crimping pliers which have several options.
Crimping pliers for "easy" connectors
We also supply special crimping pliers for "easy" RJ45 connectors. We see more and more customers opting for the new easy Cat5e connectors and easy Cat6 connectors. Here, the wires protrude through the connector at the front so that the order and connection is always correct. Moreover, this special crimping tool not only crimps the connector tight, it also immediately cuts off the protruding wires at the front so that it is immediately ready for use.
If you are reading this, you probably want to make a network cable. Network cables usually use 8-wire cables, you will then need an RJ45 connector for this, as it has 8 wire inputs with 8 contact points. To attach these, choose a crimping tool that can (also) crimp RJ45 plugs. For this, choose an RJ45 crimping tool.
Some network cables (few though) use RJ12 connectors. These have 6 inputs and 6 contact points and are thus suitable for 6-wire cables. Choose an RJ12 crimping tool for this.
RJ11 connectors have 6 inputs and 4 contact points these, are often used for ADSL, telephone and modem (not internet). Choose an RJ11 crimping tool for this.
RJ10 connectors have 4 inputs and 4 contact points and are used for telephone handsets (also not for internet). For this, choose an RJ10 crimping pliers.
A UTP pliers also crimps FTP plugs
An RJ45 crimping pliers is often called a 'UTP pliers'. This is because a UTP cable (so unshielded) is the most commonly used network cable. But good to know: our crimping pliers are also suitable for crimping FTP connectors.
